Reflecting on 2023
Written by: Bill Smith
Ready or not, the holidays are here! It is a time for thanks, celebration, reflection, and introspection. Many of us express gratitude at Thanksgiving, celebrate at Christmas or Hanukkah, and reflect and resolve to do better for the New Year.
Despite the outpouring of joy and happiness experienced by multitudes of people, others may find the holidays to be a time of sorrow.
Grief from the loss of loved ones, worry and stress from loss of job and income, as well as pain and suffering from injury or sickness can make this festive season seem more dreadful than cheerful.
Unfortunately, in our work we see this not just during the holidays, but all year long. Many of our clients come to us when an injury has turned their lives upside down. And, when one member of a family is harmed, it affects the whole family. Our job is to prepare and try cases to rectify that situation in the best way legally possible. We take that responsibility very seriously. So, while we may have to see our clients at some of the worst times in their lives, it is our honor, privilege, and joy to help them obtain justice and get their lives turned back in the right direction.
In keeping with the holiday theme: we give thanks to and for our many clients. We give thanks for each other and the great professionals and team we have here at SBLTV. We celebrate with you the justice, the wins in cases, and the righting of our clients’ ships. We reflect, learn, and resolve to do better by constantly improving our process and skills.
This has been a year of change here at the firm. While most of the faces are the same, we are now Smith, Born, Leventis, Taylor & Vega, LLC. For that too, we give thanks, celebrate, and resolve to always give you the best legal representation possible. If we can help you, a loved one, or friend, please call us. I assure you, we will do our best to help. It’s an honor to represent each and every one of you who entrust your problems to us.
We wish you the happiest, most joyous holiday season!
Community outreach corner
Harvest Hope
In October, a small group participated in an afternoon of volunteering at Harvest Hope Food Bank in Columbia, South Carolina. The group spent the afternoon sorting donated items so that they can be packaged and used by members of the local community. We look forward to returning to Harvest Hope next year!
Christmas Challenge
In an effort to give back to our community, we challenged our employees and community members to donate food items for Harvest Hope in Columbia and toys for Leo Santa in Greenville. We are so excited to spread Holiday cheer with others.
